Morgan Walker
Artist Statement

I always knew that I was going to do something in art, but I found that I enjoy designing characters, stuffed toys, and jewelry the most. As a Digital Artist, most of my pieces are created on the computer using the programs PaintTool SaiPhotoshop, Indesign, and Illustrator. The body of work on this website is a mix of conceptualized art pieces, commissioned pieces, photography, and competition designs for multiple organizations.

My first experience with design was when I was around the age of 4 or 5 and my teacher asked me to draw something on an envelope that was heading to the White House. I don't remember why we were sending a letter but I do remember feeling like this was really important so the design had to be perfect. I drew a blank because I had no idea what the president would like to see when he get's his mail, so I chose to draw some different colored flowers using crayons because I thought everyone likes flowers. I recall the feeling of not being too happy with my work, thinking that it wasn't good enough for our country's leader. I felt that if given more time I would have came up with something much better then average looking flowers. I believe it was a week later when the school received a letter back from the presidents wife and it was addressed to me. The first lady wanted to thank me for the pretty flowers on the envelope. The school made a big deal about it and took a picture of me holding the letter for the news paper. I was so excited to know that a big celebrity liked my drawings. I never realized how much that moment would influence my life until my senior year of college when I thought back on what put me on the design track.

I'm very grateful for what I have learned and being given the chance to work in a field where I know I will truly be happy. I know that the more I design the more my art will thrive and so will I.
